With warmer weather on the horizon, now is the perfect time to get out and enjoy the city. Between Father’s Day, the start of the summer sporting season, and the beginning of a long line of festivals, there is much to see and do in Calgary this June!

  1. Roll Out! Calgary Roller Skate Festival

When: June 14 – 16, 2019

Where: Village Square Leisure Centre, 2623 56 St NE

Looking for a new activity to try out? The Calgary Roller Skate Festival provides a weekend-long opportunity to learn more about this fun and family-friendly activity. Friday night provides guests with a chance to take part in a public skate and a workshop for beginners. On Saturday, another public skate will be held along with the Night Gala performance from amateur and professional roller skaters from around the world. Guests can also take part in another workshop on Sunday. Tickets are available for the whole weekend or for each single day and should be purchased online.

  1. Calgary Stampeders Opening Game

When: June 15, 2019

Where: McMahon Stadium, 1817 Crowchild Tr NW

The Calgary Stampeders will play their first game of the regular CFL 2019 season in Calgary against the Ottawa Redblacks. To celebrate the start of the new season, the Stampeders will be hosting a Home Opener presented by Tim Hortons with pre-game activities include music and food. A tailgate party, presented by Coors Light, will also start before the game. Tickets for the game start at $36.00.

  1. Wings and Wheels Father’s Day Weekend

When: Saturday, June 15 – Sunday, June 16, 2019

Where: The Hangar Flight Museum (4629 McCall Way NE)

The eight annual Wings and Wheels event takes place again this year over the Father’s Day Weekend at the Hangar Flight Museum. During the weekend some of the vintage aircraft will be available for visitors to view and see inside. Alongside the aircraft will be a variety of vintage cars and hot rods. When attending with their families, dads will get into free! Tickets are available to purchase in advance online here for $15 (special rates are available for children, youth, and seniors).

  1. Train Days

When: Saturday, June 15 – Sunday, June 16, 2019

Where: Aspen Crossing (Box 30, Mossleigh, AB)

The Train Days weekend is full of activities for all ages to enjoy. On each day, visitors can take a look at model train displays, and enjoy a pancake breakfast each morning until noon at only $10 for adults and $6 for children. A train ride and other activities are also available for children each day, as well as the opportunity to spend an hour on the full-size excursion train. Tickets for the train ride can be purchased at the station and are available for $25 for adults and $15 for kids. A special brunch buffet will be available in the Pullman Dining Car in honour of Father’s Day, with sittings throughout the day – tickets start at $22.95 and can be reserved here.

  1. Calgary Jazz Orchestra’s The Duke! Music of Duke Ellington

When: Sunday, June 16, 2019

Where: River Park Church (3818 14a St SW)

Celebrate Father’s Day with the Calgary Jazz Orchestra’s last show of the season. During this performance, the orchestra will be playing music from famed musician Duke Ellington, with a tribute performance to Lester Young. Special guest saxophonist Cory Weeds will be joining the orchestra for the season finale. Tickets start at $27.23 for the evening performance.
