Rain or shine, there are plenty of events and activities to take part in around Calgary this April. From family-friendly Easter events to adults-only food tastings, there’s something for everyone! Most of these events feature a mix of outdoor and indoor activities, so make sure to check the ever-changing weather before you leave so you are dressed appropriately, whatever the day may bring.

 

Taste of Bragg Creek – Bragg Creek
Date: April 12
Where: Bragg Creek Community Centre (23 White Avenue, Bragg Creek)
Tickets: Free, tasting tickets $1.50 each

From 5:00 – 9:00 p.m., guests will be treated to food and drink from over 25 local vendors. Starting in the community centre, guests will be able to use their tasting tickets to sample from the vendors. After, they’ll be able to visit the stores in person, where stores will be offering their own specials and promotions. Tasting tickets will only work in the centre during the Taste of Bragg Creek event, but the stores will be offering deals throughout the rest of the month. The Legendary Easter Egg Hunt – Butterfield Acres
Dates: April 13, 14, 19, 20
Where: Butterfield Acres (254077 Rocky Ridge Road NW)
Tickets: $13.99 for children, $15.99 for adults

Celebrate the spring season at Butterfield Acres’ annual egg hunt. Kids will have the chance to search the farm for eggs and visit with the Easter Bunny. Guests will also have a chance to help with planting their own pot, which they will get to take home. They will also get to see the animals and explore the rest of the farm. Other activities may be offered depending on the weather. A variety of times are available to take part in the great hunt from 10:40 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. Please note: Tickets must be purchased in advance to attend this event. Catch the Easter Bunny – Lake Louise
Dates: April 19 – 21
Where: Lake Louise Ski Resort (1 Whitehorn Road, Lake Louise)

Enjoy spring skiing with a special visit from the Easter Bunny at Lake Louise. The Easter Bunny will be joining guests on the slopes and handing out special treats. The Easter Bunny will also free to pose for pictures from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. along with the ski resort’s mascot, Griff the Grizzly. On Sunday, gets are in for an even bigger treat, as guests have the chance to put together their own sled and take place in the Cardboard Box Downhill Derby. This event is free and open to all ages – people can participate individually or in a team of no more than four people. More information can be found here.

 

Calgary International Auto and Truck Show – BMO Centre
Date: April 17 – 21
Where: 20 Roundup Way SE
Tickets: $12.50 for weekday, $15.00 for weekend

The Calgary International Auto and Truck Show is back again in 2019, where visitors have a chance to view new and upcoming models of popular brands like Ford, Chrysler, and Hyundai, and luxury brands like Bentley and Ferrari. Visitors are encouraged to view the exhibitor booths and see in person what vehicle they could be driving on the road one day. Ticket can be purchased online here. There are different discounts for youth and seniors, and special days throughout the weekend that guests can take part in like the Seniors’ Day on April 17, and special Easter activities for children and families on April 21.

 

Planted Food Series

Where: Various restaurants, Enmax Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo (210 St. George’s Drive NE)
Tickets: Prices may vary. $70 and $12 for parking for the Farm Zoo Table event

During the month of April, restaurants around Calgary will be taking part in WinSport’s Planted Food Series. Through this food series, guests at the participating restaurants will be treated to special vegan and vegetarian dishes and menus from local chefs around the city including Rouge and Diner Deluxe. This series will end on April 25, at the Calgary Zoo for the Farm Zoo Table event. Tickets to the event also include a feature cocktail, admission to the zoo, garden-theme activities, music, and more. A silent auction will raise funds for the Community Kitchen Program of Calgary.
