There may still be a lot of snow left on the ground, but spring break in Calgary is only a few weeks away! Regardless of the weather, Calgary has plenty of different spring break camp options available for children to participate in while they’re on break. From gymnastics to ceramics, there is no shortage of options available between March 26 – 30 and April 2 – 6. However, these camps can fill up fast, so parents must be sure to register their children as soon as possible.

1. For the Aspiring Artists and Performers:

Theatre A Go-Go’s Drama/Theatre Arts Camp
Ages: 7 – 16
When: March 26 – 30 and April 2 – 6 from 9:00am-4:00pm
Where: Parkdale Community Centre (3512 – 5 Ave. N.W.)
Price: $280 per child

The theme for this year’s spring break camp is “Adventures in Oz.” During the camp, children will in different theatre activities to develop their acting, singing, speaking and moving/dancing skills. This training will culminate on the last day of the camp with a theatre performance of “The Wizard of Oz” novel by L. Frank Baum.

Colour on Fire Art Studio
Ages: 4 – 12
When: March 26 – 30 and April 2 – 6 for either a half-day (8:30am-12:00pm or 1:00-4:30pm) or a full-day (8:30am-4:00pm)
Where: Colour on Fire Art Studio (230, 8560-8A Ave SW)
Price: $345 per child for a weeklong full-day session or $175 for a weeklong half-day session. For parents interested in only enrolling their children for a couple of days, drop-in rates are available for $79 per child for a full-day, and $59 per child for a half-day.

Children will get to explore their artistic side at this camp, where they will learn how to make their own art. At the Colour on Fire Art Studio, children will learn different art-making techniques including ceramics. They’ll get to pick out a figurine, paint it themselves, and take home their own piece of art.

2. For the Creative and Technically-Minded:

ATCO Blue Flame Cooking Camps
Ages: 9 – 12
When: March 26 – 29 from 9:00am-4:00pm
Where: Downtown Learning Centre (909 – 11 Avenue SW)
Price: $360 per child

This 4-day camp will teach children about different foods and traditions from around the world, including South America, Europe, Asia, and North America. Children will have the opportunity to try different cultural foods from each meal of the day while learning more about other cultures.

Brickineers STEM Robotics Camps
Ages: Children in grades 3 – 6 (children in younger grades are accepted if accompanied by their older sibling)
When: March 26 – 29 or April 2 – 6 from 9:00am-12:00pm
Where: Bridgeland Riverside Community Association (917 Centre Ave NE)
Price: For the March 26-29 session, registration is $150 per child, and for the April 2-6 session, registration is $175 per child.

At the Brickineers STEM Robotics Camp, children are encouraged to explore and develop skills in science, technology, engineering, and math. They will build and program different items like cars and robots with a variety of materials, including Lego Boost.

3. For the Adventurous and Athletic:

Kyle Shewfelt Gymnastics Camps
Ages: 4 – 12
When: March 26 – 29 for either a half-day (9:00am-12:00pm or 1:00-4:00pm) or a full-day (9:00am-4:00pm)
Where: Kyle Shewfelt Gymnastics Centre (104 – 3442 118th Avenue SE)
Price: $276 per child for a weeklong full-day session or $156 for a weeklong half-day session. For parents interested in only enrolling their children for a single day, registration is $80 per child.

At this gymnastics camp, children will not only have the opportunity to practice their jumps and hop on the trampoline, but also make crafts, play games and participate in other group activities. Children will be physically and socially active during their spring break.

5 Elements Martial Arts Camps
Ages: 3 – 12
When: March 26 – 30 for either a half-day (9:00am-12:00pm or 1:00-3:00pm) or a full-day (9:00am-3:00pm)
Where: 5 Elements Martial Arts Studio (13226 Macleod Trail SE)
Price: $295 per child for a weeklong full-day session, $70 per child for a single day, and $40 per child for a half-day.

Children will participate in a variety of martial arts-related activities like karate, taekwondo, and kickboxing. The 5 Elements Martial Art’s camp will also provide arts and crafts activities throughout the week and teach children how to make sushi.

Trico Centre Recreation Camps
Ages: 6 – 12
When: March 26 – 29 and April 2 – 6 for either a half-day (9:00am-12:00pm or 1:00-4:00pm) or a full-day (9:00am-4:00pm)
Where: Trico Centre for Family Wellness (11150 Bonaventure Drive SE)
Price: Half-day for $20 or full-day for $40 per child

At the Trico Centre, children will spend the mornings doing indoor and outdoor activities like crafts and sports. During the afternoon, children will get to spend time in the wave pool. The wave pool is heated at a higher temperature and is accessible for children with mobility issues. Extra supervision can be provided for children at this camp for $5 per session.
