Around the city, popular attractions are getting into the holiday spirit with festive light displays! These annual traditions are not to miss and perfect for children and adults alike. While changes have been made this year to help ensure everyone’s health and safety, these displays are still sure to delight and amaze as they light up the night this holiday season.

Zoolights
When: November 20 – January 3
Where: Calgary Zoo

Don’t miss out on one of the most popular outdoor winter activities in Calgary! Zoolights is returning this year with another fantastic light display for all ages. Guests must purchase tickets in advance to explore the lights and themed areas like Polar Wonderland and the Enchanted Gardens. Every Sunday, guests with sensory sensitives can enjoy an altered experience with changes to the lights and sounds to make the experience more enjoyable. Entry prices are $19.95 for general tickets and $14.95 for children.

TELUS Sparkle Sparkle
When: November 27 – January 3
Where: TELUS Spark

Take a trip through TELUS Spark’s indoor light exhibition made up of 270,000 LED lights. This display will bring the cosmos to guests daily from 5:00 – 9:30 p.m. with a fun holiday spin. Featured in the display will be a northern lights cave, bonfire and shooting star experience in the dome theatre. While all other galleries and exhibits will be closed during this time, you can still visit the Eatery for a holiday treat or shop in the Spark Store. Tickets for adults are $18.95 and $12.95 for children and must be purchased in advance.

Noel
When: November 26 – January 3
Where: BMO Centre

Families can get inside and avoid the cold weather at Noel, an indoor light mark and holiday market. Over a million lights have been used to create this winter wonderland, which includes a light tunnel, Christmas tree, and other fantastic displays. An artisan market, live entertainment, food and beverage vendors and famous faces (like Santa Claus!) will also be available for guests to enjoy during their visit. Tickets must be purchased in advance online and are available at a family rate of $59.99 or for adults at $19.99 and children at $14.99.

Lions Festival of Lights
When: November 29 – January 8
Where: 14 St NW

The annual Lions Festival of Lights display has been a holiday hallmark for 34 years. This year, the display is going “retro” and only offering a drive-by viewing experiences. Guests will not be able to walk through the exhibit, but can view the light display by driving along 14 St NW. The festival is proud to now be 99% environmentally-friendly, with every effort made to make the display of over 650,000 lights as energy-efficient as possible. The display this year is being designed by Ian Regier of IR Design.

Lougheed House
When: November 19 – January 17
Where: Lougheed House

Calgarians can step back in time to enjoy the Victorian home’s festive lights, decorations and displays throughout the holiday season. Timed entry tickets must be purchased in advance, but guests will still be able to step inside and view the museum and visit the restaurant. From November 29 – December 20, families can pre-book an outdoor photo session with Santa on his sleigh outside the house. The session will be physically-distanced and be taken by a professional photographer. The photo session is $85.88 and more details can be found here.
