Spring is almost here! While this means that nicer weather is on the way, Calgary is notorious for having unpredictable weather. Whether the sun is shining or the rain is pouring, get out of the house this month and check out what activities and events are taking place around the city:

Brazilian Carnaval
Where: Acadia Recreation Complex (240 90 Ave SE)
When: March 7, 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.

For the 16th year, the community is welcome to participate in the Brazilian Carnaval. A variety of activities will be included in the program for the event, including a Brazilian Band comprised of local and international musicians, dance performances, face painting and food from Gaucho Restaurant. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 (adults) and $5 (children ages 5-11) online or at the door for $20 (adults) and $5 (children ages 5-11). Food and drinks are not included in the price of the ticket and must be purchased separately.

International Auto Show
Where: BMO Centre (20 Roundup Way SE)
When: March 10 – 15, various times

The Calgary Motor Dealers Association is once again hosting the International Auto Show at the BMO Centre. Car enthusiasts and those interested in checking out the latest models are welcome to attend the show throughout the weekend. Special events include the Lincoln Ladies Night and Vehicles and Violins charity fundraiser on Friday, which will include a sneak preview of the show, performance from the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, auction and raffle in support of Discovery House. This year, guests can book online in advance for the EV test drive feature. Weekday tickets start at $13.50 and weekend show admission is $16.00. Discounted prices are available for seniors and youth, and additional packages are available for food and drinks.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of AzkabanTM in Concert
Where: Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium (1415 14 Ave NW)
When: March 12 – 14, 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.

The Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium will once again host the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra in collaboration with Attila Glatz Concert Productions to perform the musical score of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban™ live while guests watch the movie on the big screen. Each show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets start at approximately $43.50 depending on seat selection.

Paleo 2020
Where: Mount Royal University  (4825 Mount Royal Gate SW)
When: March 21, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Paleo 2020 is all about dinosaurs, with presentations, displays and posters focused on everything palaeontology and fossil! This free event is being hosted by the Alberta Palaeontological Society at the Jenkins Theatre at Mount Royal University and is open to all ages to enjoy. Guests will be able to learn more about dinosaurs, fossils and current research happening in the palaeontology field.

Calgary Outdoor Adventure and Travel Show
Where: BMO Centre (20 Roundup Way SW)
When: March 21 – 22, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

It’s never too early to start planning a summer getaway! At the Calgary Outdoor Adventure and Travel Show, visitors will have the opportunity to visit over 200 different booths and find information on a variety of outdoor activities. From camping to boating, scuba diving, and sports, there will be exhibitors and presentations on the latest products and gear as well as information on adventure traveling. Tickets can be purchased online in advance for $8 or at the door for $10. This year, the show will be raising funds for the charity Power to Be, and guests are invited to make a donation with their ticket purchase in support of inclusive adventure in nature.
